Hal Ross Responds (Updated)

After Philip R. Klein attacked the Manager of the Southeast Texas Regional Airport in an article last week, Hal Ross posted this response simultaneously to Operation Kleinwatch and the Southeast Texas Political Review on Friday, September 5, 2008:

Re: "Hal is out of control".

The Preamble to the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics states, “public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility.” It would be a fair assumption to believe Klein would adhere to such a code, but then again, he is not a professional journalist.

I don’t know who Klein is referring to but if anyone got their feelings hurt about the activities at the airport during the medical evacuation, I’ll buy the lunch and make the apologies.  But given the volume of compliments and thank you’s we received at the airport I doubt that Klein has any credible facts to back up his claim, but what else is new.  It was a well planned and executed operation and in my opinion the Guard, the Air Force, the firefighters, the tower, my crew and everyone involved all operated with good effectiveness and from the debriefings that seems to be the consensus from those who participated.  No operation goes perfectly, but this one worked well.

Anyone that knows me knows I’m more of a control person than “out of control”.  I invite Klein to get to know me better.  And bring those pissed off people with him.

Hal Ross
Airport Manager

I waited a few days before publishing to give Philip a chance to respond on his own to Hal's articulate and well-reasoned  rebuttal.

Typically, Philip ignored the correspondence and refused to post it on his "Reader Mail" page, even though he published such obviously contrived and self-aggrandizing "mail" as this:

From Houston Texas :

" do a great job in keeping everyone on their toes around there. I miss Southeast Texas, NOT."

Answer : I am sorry you choose not to live here. Although Jefferson County is a dying county owned and operated by the Democrats - enough said.

Philip apparently enjoys hearing the sound of his own keyboard tapping.

As I've repeatedly pointed out, Philip is a bully  who hides like "a scared little girl" when someone questions his wingnut opinions.

You are a low life, Philip R. Klein - your bias is showing quite clearly when you make ridiculous charges, but won't give the offended parties a chance to defend themselves on your website.

And that, my friends, is the real story behind the story.
