From the Beaumont Enterprise:

Eastman Chemical committed to $1.6 billion Beaumont plant

December, 15, 2008

Despite global economic uncertainty, Eastman Chemical is following through on plans to build a $1.6 billion plant in Beaumont over the next two years, a facility that officials say will provide another boon to the local economy.

"The benefits of us working here are great, and in return, we expect to be good corporate citizens," [CeeGee McCord, spokeswoman for Eastman] said.

Under the tax abatement plan Jefferson County commissioners approved Monday, Eastman will pay no taxes for 10 years beginning in 2009 if it ensures that it strives to use local contractors and suppliers in construction of its plant and continues to employ local residents. Eastman must document its attempts to use local help, Precinct 1 Commissioner Eddie Arnold said, during quarterly status meetings.

How's that love triangle going - any names yet? Or, is this another case of your premature speculation, as in the identity of Sam the Eagle?
