JP Seat Update

In this posting on the SET Political Review, Philip R. Klein prattles on about the JP race in south county (emphasis is mine):
Well - we waited and nothing happened post our story regarding the JP seat held by retiring judge Robert "Bob" Morgan (who we think may just be one of the top three judges on the bench).

FLASHBACK : Robert Reid - running as a Independent gets a call from democratic candidate Marc Derouen - telling him that he is considering a lawsuit or challenge to his candidacy over violations of the election code and a challenge to his signatures on his petition for office. He (Derouen) advises Reid it will come within weeks according to our sources.

Back to current day - nothing has happened. So we made some calls on both sides of the fence to see what is happening.

"All is quiet Mr. Klein. I think that Marc thought that he could scare Reid out of the race. But he thought twice since your article. He has not called Robert and he has not said anything. After your article there were angry calls to Robert about why Marc would do this. Marc is supported by every single democratic special interest group in Southeast Texas. From Unions to Plaintiff lawyers to county commissioners. Why would Marc be so scared to go after the peoples candidate? It was all kind of silly," said our source close to Reid.
Occam's razor suggests that Klein invented the purported lawsuit, campaign violations, complaints, and signatures. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Ironically, Klein missed the big story: Shane Howard will announce his candidacy for the Jefferson County Tax Assessor/Collector seat on Friday. Shane once served as the Chair for the Jefferson County Republican Party and currently serves as the Vice-Chair. Here's the link to their website, except it's not working right now. Apparently, they've lost Philip's email address, too.

As a supporter of Shane Howard, I would like to ask Phil Klein to please endorse Thomas Sigee.

The last thing any candidate wants is PRK's endorsement.
