Gator mentioned this in a posting on the
Bayou, a Beaumont Enterprise blog. As he noted,
these estimates are not from the 2010 Census, but based on
growth since the 2000 Census:
According to new census data released today (the FINAL estimates before the 2010 results are issued), Beaumont’s population — for the period ending July 1, 2009 — went UP for the third consecutive year.
Pop the champagne, y’all.
Or not. See for yourself, there’s a link to the figures below. Be warned: it involves small print, spreadsheets and lotsa data. It could cause brain damage, so you’re best bet would be to read on and try not to think too much.
Bursting at the seams, we are. That is, if you consider 145 brave new citizens an “influx” — rising from 109,954 (‘08) to 110,099 (‘09).
I encourage everyone to ignore Gator's advice and read the numbers for themselves, or risk becoming the village idiot on a regular basis:
From Philip R. Klein's posting "Early" on January 25, 2010: The Southeast Texas Political Review has learned that incoming county judge Jeff Branick may step into office post the primary elections "as early as April of 2010" according to sources very close to the commissioners court...Here are the facts - people are leaving Jefferson County to the tune of 120 families a month...The perfect storm is on the horizon.
Bouquets to Gator for
providing proper perspective:
- Jefferson County: 242,201 UP to 243,237
- Orange County: 82,871 DOWN to 81,816
- Hardin County: 52,405 UP to 53,424
Brickbats to Gator for
not commenting on this item and for
stealing The Count from Sam The Eagle (who we like, but he stole it from
Jim Henson).

the local media will see after klein posts on his black or blank screen
this is a mission for sam the eagle to look into
is anyone foolish enough to give an advance or cash for a book to be written or published by klein
is it going to be fiction or friction, cannot be factual
let him write and expose himself
on he did that on vacation
maybe he will get as many sales as hits on his blogsite.
Klein takes frequent cheap shots at Gator. The Enterprise blogger easily could throw a few punches of his own but perhaps he's correct: it would be an unnecessary waste of ink to acknowledge PRK exists.
Who gives a shit about throwing punches...somebody needs to expose klein's lies. You'd think that at least the Enterprise would of followed up on their own story instead of running for cover because Klein is printing garbage about them on his website. On second thought, maybe Klein was right. The SET Record got it right:

Gus, Floyd's been mandamused twice this year but the BE won't touch the story because they don't want to mention Klien;s name. Mark that down as another victory for Phillip. Sorry.
